We have updated the way artist credit is handled for both species and items to make things simpler.
Previously, you had to add yourself as an artist before you could upload artwork.
Now, this step has been removed and automated. You do NOT need to add credit for yourself, as the system will do this automatically for you upon uploading.
Also, you no longer have to select yourself as an artist with each upload. Your name will always appear at the top of the list for automatic self-crediting.
Crediting artists is still ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED for collaborations with other artists. Always remember to credit other artists involved in the creation of items or species. Failure to provide credit may result in warnings, loss of artist access, or bans.
Layer group breeding has been added, and is ready for testing!
This feature will need adjustments, and may be reworked. We are just testing things out.
Breeding settings for layers can be changed on the breeding panel for species. It is turned off by default.
4dopt.com will be opening to public access on December 14th of 2020.
When we officially open, the earlyaccess code for registration will no longer be required and the site will be officially open to the public.
What the opening of 4dopt means:
After December 14th, 4dopt will be done with the earliest phase of development. We will still be in development, but the game will be more stable and presentable than before. We will have worked out most if not all known bugs, and have a more stable game.
After December 14th, we will continue to add more features and expand the site.
Although it's unlikely due to the generous deadline (most of things have already been finished, we are mainly just touching it up), we will postpone the opening if needed. We also may re-close the registration at any time if needed.
The recolor page has received another update!
You can now adjust settings of new markings before they are added.
You can now donate and place tickets to win adopts with the new raffle feature!
How it Works
You can either donate an adopt to the raffle, or buy tickets (or both!).
As a donator, you can place up to 5 adopts per day into the raffle (depending on your level). You do not get anything in return, but can give others the chance to win your pretty adopt! You can also attach items as treasures to donate items.
As a ticket buyer, you can put tickets into a bag for a chance to win the adopt at midnight.
Raffle winners will be drawn each day around midnight (4dopt time) and the raffle will be cleared out. If an adopt has no tickets placed for them, they will stay for the next day's raffle.
Let us know in the bug reports forum if there are any bugs with the new raffle feature. We will continue developing this feature as needed until it is working optimally.
There is a new type of item functionality called containers.
Any item can be a container.
When opened, they will randomly give the player one of the items that's assigned to be inside.
To add items to containers, go to your item manage page and click 'distribute'. The option to add items to containers will appear at the button of this page.
In the dropdown, you will be able to select any of your own items to be a container, or choose from items that other users have made available as containers.
To make your items available as containers for other creators to use, go to the 'Basic' section of your item management panel. You can set this option to 'ALLOW.'
We have also updated item pages to show which containers an item can be found in.
The Referral Giftbox's functionality has now been coded in!
This item already existed and was programmed in from the start, but was unreleased, so if you earned one, it will NOW show in your inventory!
These can be earned by referring other players to the site. They are given out when credit purchases are made by the user you referred.
They currently contained a single randomized item, which is set to either be a Golden Dumbell or Bag of Love Candy. If you aren't interested in either of these items, we recommend waiting to open them later as we plan on eventually adding more items to them.
We are also working on adding customizable container items, which will be coming soon! Any item will have the capability of being a container as an additional use. Creators will be able to allow or disallow their items to be used as containers by others as well.
Just a heads up that we have updated the item and species panels to improve the layout. This included separating the item page into separate panels, connecting the panels, and moving tags to the release panels for both items and species.
Our goal for this was to make the site easier to navigate for newbies (making it more of a step-by-step process with smaller chunks), and making room for more features (since we have been adding a lot of things,. and still have more to go).
We are currently working on more navigation updates, and addressing scrolling issues/other layout concerns. Stay tuned!
