"These mysterious creatures are known to inhabit the deep depths of the ocean, where they can be found in bioluminescent kingdoms that are illuminated by the glowing patterns on their bodies, the glowing of various marine organisms, and bioluminescent flora. Despite their otherworldly appearance, Merjells are generally quite passive and hospitable in nature. They are known to be very welcoming to outsiders and are often seen as peaceful, benevolent beings. One of the most notable characteristics of the Merjell species is their resemblance to mermaids, but with added jellyfish-like features. These creatures have long, flowing hair and the upper half of their bodies are humanoid, while the lower half is more akin to that of a jellyfish, with tentacles for propulsion. Merjell pods are ruled by a monarch. The monarch is responsible for leading the pod and making important decisions on behalf of the group. Though each kingdom functions differently, In most cases when the monarch passes on the oldest of their kin will take over."
